Romek
Pawlowicz – Senior Partner & Founder
As senior partner Mr. Pawlowicz will be responsible
for overall firm strategy and management as well as transaction origination,
execution and supervision.
Mr Pawlowicz has over 24 years experience of asset management and the
capital markets including the management of funds of funds across all
asset classes as well as underlying portfolios of bonds, global equities,
derivatives and currency overlays.
Prior to founding Orthogonal Partners LLP in February 2006, Mr Pawlowicz was
the investment director for listed and alternative investments with the
family office of Lord Sainsbury of Turville from 1999-2005. Mr Pawlowicz
was the head of the multi-fund group at Global Asset Management 1990-1992
and a fund manager and founder member of the family office for the Rausing
family office 1996-1997. He was a global equity fund manager with
Laurentian Life, Credit Suisse Asset Management and a director of Richmond
Capital, a hedge fund start up. In addition, from 2002-2005, Mr
Pawlowicz was a member of the advisory and research boards at the Centre
for Hedge Fund Research at the London Business School.
Mr Pawlowicz has a BSc. Maths and Physics from Bristol University.
Dan
Gore – Partner & Founder
Mr Gore is a Partner of Orthogonal Partners.
He will be responsible for supporting the firm’s activities in the
areas of deal sourcing, execution and monitoring.
Mr Gore was previously an associate at The Sainsbury family office
2002-2005. While at the Sainsbury family office, he was
focussed on private equity and alternative assets. He was responsible
for sourcing opportunities, conducting due diligence and making recommendations.
Previously, he worked at Jennings & Varma Ltd 2000-2001,
a small angel investment company as an analyst. During his time
at Jennings & Varma, Mr Gore was made a company director of J&V
Films Ltd, a film financing company.
Mr Gore has a Masters degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from
New College, Oxford.
Ahmet
Ismael – Partner & Founder
Mr Ismael is
a Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Orthogonal Partners. He
is responsible for all aspects of accounting, financial, compliance and
investor reporting activities.
Previously the company accountant and company secretary at The Sainsbury
family office 1998- 2000. His responsibilities included
the valuation of the private equity portfolio. Most recently the
Financial Controller for three companies at Stanley Davis Group Ltd, Stanley
Davis Ltd (eformations and co secretarial services), York Place (search
and formations) and Fuel IT Limited (bespoke eLearning and training)
2003-2006. Responsibilities included due diligence on 3 organisations.
Prior to this he was the Financial Controller at Egerton London Residential
Ltd (real estate and letting agency) 2001-2002, Accountant
at JP Kenny Group (oil exploration and pipeline) 1989-1998.
Peter
Kerfoot – Financial Controller
Mr Kerfoot is the Financial Controller, having joined in June 2008. Working alongside Ahmet Ismael he is responsible for all aspects of management accounting and financial reporting and assisting with the compliance and investor reporting activities. Previously the Financial Controller at Alpha Catering Services (member of the Alpha Airports Group Plc) 2004-2008, Finance Administration Manager at Rail Gourmet Waterloo International Ltd (member of the Compass Group) 1995-2004. Prior to this he was an Accountant at JP Kenny Group (oil exploration and pipeline) 1989-1994, Accountant at Ellam & Co (Chartered Accountants) 1986-1989 and before that a mathematic and statistics teacher working for the London Borough of Newham, 1982-1986. Mr Kerfoot has a BSc in Economics, Sociology and Statistics from University of Surrey, 1980 and a qualified FCCA Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, 2000.
Mark O'Donnell – Researcher
Mr O'Donnell joined in November 2008. As the researcher, Mr O'Donnell works closely with the Partners. He conducts primary research and helps support due diligence. Mark previously worked with the Partners as Head of Research at the Sainsbury Family Office 2001 - 2008. He researched a wide range of areas across the investment and charitable spectrum. He also played a central role at Venturefest events and ippr's centre for cities. Mr O'Donnell has a BSc. in Rural and Environmental Economics from Newcastle and a MSc. in Corporate and International Finance from Durham.
Dr.
Manfred J. Adami
Mr. Adami was
born and educated in Germany. He graduated from Hamburg University with
an MBA and a Ph. D. Following several years of teaching at the economic
and social department of Hamburg University, he joined Warburg Investment
Management in London where he spent more than ten years, mostly as an
investment manager of international equity portfolios. Thereafter, Mr.
Adami spent approximately fifteen years with Credit Suisse First Boston,
as the Managing Director of CSFB Investment Management, and subsequently
with Credit Suisse in Zurich, as Member of the Bank’s Executive Board
in charge of worldwide institutional investment management, including
the supervision of the bank’s substantial mutual fund business. After
leaving the bank Mr. Adami established a family office in London and Zurich
for one of Europe’s wealthy families and he continues to act as an
adviser to several such family offices.
Professor William (Bill)
Fung
Mr Fung was
educated in England where he received his doctorate in Mathematics from
the University of London, and subsequently a doctorate in Finance from
the University of Manchester. Prior to joining the investment banking
profession in 1985 with Lehman Brothers, Bill taught finance for several
years in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Bill moved to
the investing side of the industry in 1991 leaving Bankers Trust Company
and co-founded a hedge fund. Mr. Fung left the hedge fund partnership
during early part of 1994 and founded a consulting firm specializing
in the risk management of hedge fund portfolios advising high net worth
families, international private banks, foundations, and insurance companies.
Bill is currently Visiting Research Professor of Finance at the BNP-Paribas
Hedge Fund Centre of the London Business School. Professor Fung
maintains active involvement in the financial industry and acts as advisor
to financial services companies in Europe and North America. He
is currently Chairman of the Maple Financial Group in Canada.
